Friendsgiving—A New Twist on an Old Tradition

Back in the day—long before Facebook—Thanksgiving was a time when families returned home to catch up, watch some football, get stuffed like a turkey and, of course, give thanks.

Times have changed. We don’t live close to home anymore. We can DVR the football game and watch it later—or get score alerts on our phones. And we’d rather have lively table conversations and share our experience on social media than slip into a food coma on the sofa.

Friendsgiving has become more popular than ever, and since it’s inherently more casual than Thanksgiving, it’s surprisingly easy to pull off. We recommend hosting a potluck dinner (less dishes to wash), pouring simple table wines (it’s ok if you spill a little), and even extending the invitation to pets (our BEST friends).
